# Configuring a Dead Man Switch

Dead Man Switch allows you to initiate all your recovery-plans if the app isn't opened for a specified number of months.

Check the deadline. Each time you open the app, the deadline will be updated. If you don’t open the app for a long time, you will receive push notifications reminding you to do so.

The **Dead Man Switch** period is independent of the internal **timelock** period of each recovery plan. For example, if the Dead Man’s Switch period is **6 months** and the recovery plan’s timelock period is **45 days**, then if the app is not opened for 6 months, the recovery plan will be initiated, and the Bitcoin will reach the second wallet only **45 days later**.
